Our Facilities

The Africa Gospel Church Baby Center is a walled compound in the farming village of Ngata near Nakuru. The quiet and peacefullness of the area has now been broken with the laughter and cries of 23 babies! The local people, however, do not mind the sounds, but welcome them. These sounds mean that the baby center is flourishing, while abandoned and orphaned babies are getting the love and care they are needing.

Currently, the AGC Baby Center compound consists of a duplex housing unit and the main Baby Center building. An 8-unit guesthouse is being proposed to also be built on the compound, after construction of the main building is completed. This guesthouse will be used to house volunteers and visiting staff.

The duplex previously housed the children, but on 17 January 2007, the children were moved into their new home in the main building. Currently, the head nurse and her family reside on one side of the duplex. This will allow her to be closer to the Baby Center and to be available in case of an emergency.

Construction on the main building is still on-going, but when completed, three fully furnished wings will be ready to house children from newborn on up to 4 years of age. Apartments, to house the caregivers and workers, will be located on the second floor. Wing A has been completed and was named after a former World Gospel Mission missionary, Tammie King, who was tragically killed in a car accident several years ago. Tammie was a Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit nurse who had a heart for and loved children, dearly. The Tammie King wing has become a haven for little ones that have been rescued and brought in for a lot of love and care. Due to this wing being the only one completed, at this time, it currently houses all the children. After the other two wings are completed, the Tammie King Wing will house newborns to approximately 9 month old babies. Wing B will house 9 month to approximately children 2 years of age. Wing C will be a very lively and "on the go" wing, because it will house the toddlers on up to children 4 years of age.

The AGC baby center also has a shamba (or farm in English) that is located about a quarter of a mile down the road. This piece of land is vitally important, because it houses the cows needed for milk and the land to produce food for the children. Children 6+ months old have already begun to enjoy the resources from the shamba.

We pray that God will grant us the ability to one day be able to care for a minimum of 50 abandoned or orphaned children in our home.
